All Six KC Athletes Medaled at CAC Junior Games

KC's Alain Bailey won Jamaica's first gold medal on the opening day (July 14) of the Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) Junior Track & Field Championships with a record leap of 7.68 meters in the U20 long jump at the Hasley Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He erased the 22 year old record of 7.33 meters held by Mexico's Eduardo Nava and his season's best of 7.56 meters.

Bailey is one of six KC athletes who were a  part of Jamaica’s 70 strong contingent to the Championships. He will miss the World Junior Championships because of school commitments. He is to report to the University of Arkansas by August 9th for freshman orientation which is mandatory for international students. Bailey has indicated that education comes first, despite being disappointed that he will miss the World Junior Championships.
