Dayne Ashman is the 2006 Jamaica Scholar

Dayne Ashman

Former deputy headboy, Dayne Ashman, son of KCOB Paul Ashman and his wife Winsome, is the 2006 Jamaica Scholar according to the scholarship unit of the Ministry of Education which informed principal Rupert Hemmings as well the Ashman family.

The Ashman family has a long history with KC—a tradition that started with Dayne’s grandfather, Neville Ashman, who although he did not attend KC, was a fervent supporter of the school. He traveled everywhere with the 1964/65 manning cup team. He attended Bodmin College which was behind KC.  His father who operates his own business as a real estate dealer and appraiser also attended the school.  Dayne’s uncles, Peter, Phillip, David and Christopher all attended KC as well and his younger brother, 16 year old Giovanni, is presently in Lower 6th  Form at KC and received excellent results in the 2006 May/June CXC exams achieving grade 1 in eight subjects and grade 2 in one subject. Six year old Davian is Dayne’s youngest brother who presently attends Vaz Preparatory School. His academic performance so far suggests that he is on the same path as his older brothers

When Dayne was at Vaz Prep and his father decided that KC should be his first choice in the common entrance, the teachers conspired to put Campion first. When Paul got wind of this he rushed to the principal's office put his foot down and much to the consternation of his wife and teachers, indicated KC as the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth choices.

Dayne is presently studying medicine at UWI.
