SENATOR ANTHONY JOHNSON AUTHORS HIS 12th BOOK

By Basil Waite

Senator Anthony Johnson

KC Old Boy Senator Anthony Johnson has completed yet another book, which was recently presented by the Shipping Association of Jamaica to the Governor General, Professor Hall and the Prime Minister, Mrs. Portia Simpson-Miller.

The History of the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ), sets out the events which have shaped the port of Kingston over the years to the present day, when it is one of the largest in the Caribbean. The former Governor General, Sir Howard Cooke, was guest speaker at the launching in mid January.

The SAJ was formed in 1939 as a response to the disturbances on the Kingston waterfront, which brought to prominence most of the leading personalities who would lead the Jamaican independence Movement. The workers who rioted became the nucleus of the labour movement, and today are the only workers who are guaranteed home ownership by their employer, the SAJ.

Senator Johnson {KC 1950-1956) is the author of the History of Kingston College, which is used as a text at the School. He is also the author of Ethical Business, a text for his courses at the UWI Mona, where he lectures in the Department of Management Studies. He has written twelve books.
