2007 it’s “KC Times”

2007 promises to be a more exciting year for the KCOBA Newsletter. First, much credit is due to our Newsletter’s Glen Laman and the editorial staff along with Everton Barrett and the Board of the KCOBA Atlanta chapter for making this all possible. I am impressed with the steady show of support we are receiving from all over the world especially from our student body.  I was delighted to read the accomplishments of Dayne Ashman and Asad McKenzie.

Having said that there is a lot more work in store for us. This year we will launch anew under the name “KC Times”. The URL will be changed from www.kcobaatl.org to www.kctimes.org . We have outgrown the ‘newsletter” label and matured into a news magazine.
The change was somewhat inevitable as we were squatting on the Atlanta Chapter’s domain name. There were quite a few alternatives for the name change including “FortisNews.org” but in deference to the inimitable scribe Basil Waite we refrained from the use of Fortis in our name. After lengthy deliberations we settled on the name “KC Times”, which was championed by Winston Stewart.

Plans are underway to develop the site using a combination of Visual Studio ASP.Net, C#, HTML and Java  with a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 backend. This will enable us to create administrative and user functionality allowing editors to login and submit articles for the next issue with ease.  It is a challenge so keep tuned in and log on over the next few months as we continue to blaze trails with this wonderful medium.
