Some Fathers Day Thoughts for the rest of the year

By Dalkeith 'Kitty'’ Dawkins

Love our children, and teach them values.
Don’t be afraid to punish them, because we were punished as children, and none of us are today a menace to society.
Right now in the society in which we live, the youngsters are only thinking about drugs, guns and sex.
That definitely should not be the primary focus that the “role models” (the deejays, dancehall and soca “artistes”) should be passing on to our kids.
Neither should we depend on the schools to raise our children. It is not their responsibility.
Stop leaving everything to the mothers, because you will go home one day and dont know your child.
As a matter of fact, we should be more than just providers and punishers.
Be a friend to your children, but don’t compromise parenting for friendship.
In your house no child should have absolute privacy. That is for when they start paying bills, and that should not be in your house.
Teach our daughters about sex, we know what boys want, so she should hear from us. We have been there before.
Help her to maintain respectable standards, because what we see passing off as young men nowadays should not be within a mile of her.
The same policy should apply to our sons. We should teach them to respect women. No means No. (the same doesn’t apply in prison).
Bring them up to become the type of persons we have become (minus some of the flaws).
Teach our children that education is key. It is very often the difference between a $10,000 and a $10,000,000 p.a. salary.
Last but not least, believe in a Supreme Being, whomever you perceive Him to be.
