It was “woman time” at the 7th Annual Reunion and Awards Banquet held by the Atlanta chapter on June 9, 2007 at the Holiday Inn Select’s Trinity Ballroom.

The organizers included women in the program at every opportunity. Beverley Manley, the evening’s guest speaker and well known champion of women’s rights, flew in from Jamaica for the occasion and kept the audience’s full attention during her captivating speech in which she touched on the impact and leadership of KC legends, Bishop Gibson and Douglas Forrest, the challenges facing today’s youth and the upcoming elections in Jamaica.

Mrs. Edith Stewart, mother-in-law of  MC Winston Stewart, and who recently celebrated her 81st birthday led  in singing the National Anthems of Jamaica and the United States.

Merthella Wright, wife of Board member Derrick Wright, contributed some beautiful purple and white floral arrangements that were presented to Beverley Manley and Mrs. Layne, wife of the Barbadian Honorary Consul to Atlanta by Mrs. Arlene Barrett, wife of chapter president, Everton Barrett.

The evening’s honorees were all women.  The first award for community service went to Sylvia Henry-Ashley. The second award, also for community service, went to “Jaydee” Tomlinson who for many years was “the face of Air Jamaica” to Atlanta’s Caribbean community.

Atlanta chapter President Everton Barrett gave opening remarks and presented the ladies with their awards. The evening’s emcee was chapter secretary, Winston Stewart.  Music was provided by Atlanta member Wayne Hosin  aka “DJ Migraine.”
