Donate to KC

A Few Words from the Editor

This month marks another milestone for the KCOBA Newsletter.  For the first time, you can make donations online directly from the pages of the Newsletter using the services of PayPal. Our webmaster, Earl Adams, in addition to keeping the newsletter humming has been burning the midnight oil in making the necessary enhancements to provide this important capability.

What is Paypal?  PayPal is a payment method that enables any individual or business with an email address to securely, easily and quickly send and receive payments online. It is available in 56 countries and regions around the world and is widely used for transactions carried out over the Internet. It is an alternative to traditional checks and money orders.

Donations made via PayPal are routed through the Atlanta chapter.  For example, if you make a donation to the Trust Fund online, 100% of the amount you donate will be forwarded by the chapter to the fund in Jamaica.  Your donation is tax deductible in the US because of our 501 C(3) status with the IRS.  You can also donate to other initiatives at KC such as the Teacher Incentive program and our general fund which covers such varied needs as the sports program, scholarships, nutrition, quiz team, and infrastructure improvement and maintenance.

I encourage you to use this service.  It is now easier than ever to contribute to KC.  Recent exam results are very encouraging but the fact remains that the campus is in very poor shape and science facilities are deplorable.

At the outset, we are accepting donations for the following three porgrams;

  • KC Development Trust Fund.
  • KC Social Welfare Building.
  • KC Teacher Excellence Program.

On another subject, Courtney Oddman, secretary of the Atlanta chapter is relocating to Florida.  We wish Courtney all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his years of dedicated service to the KCOBA. Patrick Hector will assume the duties of secretary for the rest of the term.
