Adrian Strachan Awarded Order of Jamaica

KC Old Boy Adrian Strachan was awarded the Order of Jamaica for public service in ceremonies held recently on National Heroes day.   Six other Jamaicans received the award. They are Bishop Herro Blair, world-renowned cricket umpire Steve Anthony Bucknor, Scotia Bank president William 'Bill' Clarke, Professor Edwin Samuel Jones, Keble Munn and Dorothy Pine-McClarty

The Order is of Jamaica is the fourth of the five ranks in the Jamaican honors system. The Order was established in 1969, and is considered the equivalent of knighthood in the British system. Membership in the Order can be conferred to any Jamaican citizen of outstanding distinction.

Strachan is currently the Auditor General of Jamaica. His job involves promoting transparency, accountability and best practices in government operations. In fulfilling this requirement, he conducts independent audits and makes reports to Parliament to improve the use of public resources. The Auditor General also seeks to ensure that public sector financial transactions comply with the wishes of Parliament, relevant laws and regulations and are conducted with due regard to the avoidance of fraud, waste and extravagance.
