KC Celebrates Record Passes in CSEC and CAPE Exams

School jubilant at 100% pass rate

Kingston College (North Street campus)

The entire Kingston College family is enjoying a euphoric high at the recently revealed record setting results by the school in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Exam (CAPE).

The exciting news spread quickly through the global old boy community. Robert Kelly, president of the New York Chapter, wrote, “The news in today's gleaner is most gratifying.  It is a reflection of the commitment of a vibrant faculty, clearly a hard working student-body, the successful and ongoing mentoring program carried our by our local chapter and our extensive scholarship and awards program to the student body.”

“The achievement is even more meaningful when you consider the huge challenges faced by Principal Hemmings and his staff,” commented Robert Hale, an Old Boy living in Switzerland who pledged to support incentives for the teachers.

According to the Gleaner, 279 students took the CSEC exams and 82% had five or more subjects. With 100% passes in several subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Electronic Document Preparation, Integrated Science, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Religious Education.  In the unit 2 of the CAPE exam 100% passes were obtained in Biology, Chemistry, History, Literatures in English and Sociology.

While the news is joyful, the stark reality of the facilities, especially in science, at KC demands immediate action by the powers that control the school.
