Thanks for all the input in updating the 1968 sixth form list. We are almost halfway there in terms of contacting individuals, and I trust you will all continue to provide new info/leads to get the list to as close as to 100% as possible.
First, how did this begin, and secondly a request.
I was attending the funeral of Denis Johnson’s (football captain) wife Barbara here in Tampa about a year ago, when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and standing in front of me was none other than former classmate Patrick (Bull) Hector. We talked and I found out that he lived in Atlanta and was a part of the KCOBA Atlanta Chapter along with Glen Laman. Subsequently, I found out that Douglas Carnegie also lived in Atlanta, and before long I found myself on my way to Atlanta to attend the KCOBA annual banquet and book signing for the latest “History of KC”. Then I had to ask myself the question: Where is everybody after KC? I did run into a few while I lived in Jamaica but did not have a clue where the rest went, hence the development of the list.
Secondly, the request.
As we start to re-initiate communication with each other, we have been sharing very interesting tit bits with individuals as to what we have been doing but in general, not to all. The request now is to provide the entire list with information as to life after KC. I am starting it off and eagerly anticipate that others will provide information. It does not have to be long and elaborate but some basic information as to what you have been doing, where you went, where you are etc. (whether you are proud of it or not), we would like to know.
My write-up is as follows:
Passed Zoology, Botany and gp at A levels but have not worked in similar field, because a series of unplanned opportunities led me elsewhere.
After I left KC in 1968, I worked for a Govt. Department now the Water Resources Authority as a hydrometric technician traveling the Island, collecting and processing streamflow data. After three years in the department, I received and accepted a Government scholarship for a bachelor’s degree in Hydrology at the University of Arizona. Returned to the Department as a Hydrologist in 1975. Worked up through the ranks to Deputy Director. In 1981 I received a scholarship from the Irish Govt. for a Masters degree in Engineering Hydrology at the National University of Ireland, Galway College. I returned to the Department in 1982, completed Thesis work and was granted my MSc.
Resigned from the Department in 1983 for an overseas assignment in Saudi Arabia with an American consulting firm. Transferred to Florida in 1988. Other than Saudi Arabia for 4 ½ years I have conducted short-term overseas assignments in the flowing countries:
Paraguay
Jamaica (Jamalco)
Puerto Rico
Panama
United Arab Emirates
Married to a St. Hugh’s old girl. Have 3 boys (35, 30, 21+ years old) and 3 grandkids
