I had an opportunity to visit the school on a recent trip to Jamaica.
Mrs. Sheila Hoo Sang - Guidance Counselor, shared with me information relating to the school's 2007 Prize Giving held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, November 28, 2007.
The event was presided over by Headmaster - Rupert Hemmings.
The Honourable Delroy Chuck M.P., Speaker of the House of Representative and distinguished old boy was the Guest Speaker.
Eighty Nine awards for Academic Excellence sponsored by KCOBA - N.Y., were presented to students representing all grades.
Two Hundred and Seventy Nine awards for Good Work also sponsored by KCOBA N.Y., were presented to students represented all grades.
One Hundred and Eighty Eight prizes covering a variety of subjects and sponsored by KCOBA Florida were handed out to students from all grades.
Special Awards:
Fourteen awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sport were presented to students representing basketball through to volleyball.
For Outstanding Service to Clubs, Cadet Unit through to Tourism Club; fourteen students were recognized.
The Principal's Award for best CXC Results went to Redone Foster.
Awards for Good Citizenship, sponsored by KCOBA Toronto, went to Dijon Davis, Lorenzo Lynch and Howard Hamilton.
Six students shared The Dr. Lloyd Demetrius Award for Excellence in Mathematics.
Funding for this award is administered by KCOBA Toronto.
The Dr Uriel Davis Award for Excellence in Chemistry went to twenty students.
Four students received The Winston Stewart Award for Excellence in Physics.
The Clinton McGaw Prize for Christian Character went to Chrisana Morrison.
Tushane Taylor was awarded the PTA Prize for Public Spirit.
The Edward Clark Prize for Academic Excellence was awarded to Redone Foster and Dean Smith.
Mrs. Tasella Collie received an Award of Appreciation for her dedication and commitment to the students at KC in the fields of nursing and welfare.
