The Atlanta chapter is a young chapter, but we are playing an important part in the growth and success of our Alma Mater, Kingston College. For the 2007 – 2008 year, often in collaboration with other KCOBA chapters, we contributed to a number of initiatives at Kingston College. These included:
The KC Development trust fund (KCDTF)
Installation of new Basketball hoops at the North Street campus
The Scholarship Fund
Construction of the Melbourne Social Services Building
Basketball team to Caribbean Championships in Turks & Caicos Islands
Teacher Improvement Program
Development of a web site for the school
Earlier this year, we partnered with our sisters of the St. Hugh’s Alumnae Association for a Feed the Homeless project in Downtown Atlanta. Participants distributed food and personal items. Free HIV testing was also offered.
We continue to spearhead the KCOBA newsletter that is published monthly on the worldwide web. The newsletter has readers around the globe, including many who are not KC Old Boys or even Jamaican.
With the support of our sponsors, the Old Boys and our supporters, we look forward to an even more successful year in 2008- 2009.
