A Few Words from the Editor

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of meeting Judge Patrick Robinson who was in Atlanta on a book signing tour for his book Jamaican Athletics: A model for the World and I was once again reminded what a remarkable human being our former headmaster, Douglas Forrest, was.  Judge Robinson lives and works in the Netherlands for the UN'’s International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.

While he was a teacher at KC, Judge Robinson was also studying Law part-time and Dougs “was very kind” to him allowing him time off to study for his exams.  And so today, the Judge feels a special connection to KC because of his experience during that pivotal period of his life.  You can read more about Judge Robinson’s book tour elsewhere in this edition of the newsletter.

I have been coming under fire recently both for articles that were not published in the newsletter and for an article that was published.  As the saying goes, you can’t please everyone all the time. I think most readers have an appreciation for what we are trying to accomplish through the newsletter.

Occasionally, I hear from readers in other countries who are not even Jamaican, much less KC Old Boys, who find the newsletter interesting and who look forward to receiving it each month.  I look forward to getting your feedback, positive as well as negative.

Happy Reading!

Glen Laman
