Dedication of the Melbourne Multi-Purpose Building
Churchill Neita QC chaired the Dedication Ceremony
KC Old Boys, Robert Kelly of the New York chapter and Audley Hewett of the Florida chapter cut the ribbons to officially open the Multi-Purpose building at a dedication ceremony held at KC’s Melbourne campus on Friday, October 23, 2008.
The project, which started in 2002, was born out of a need to house the breakfast programme on the Melbourne campus. The initial committee comprised staff members drawn from Guidance Counselor Sonia Watson, Marguerita Douglas Hall, Marlon Richards, Karyn Samuels (now Dean of Discipline), Peta Ann Grey, Tasella Collie and KCOB Churchill Neita. Two fund raising activities were pursued-A Valentine Dinner/dance and a Fete.
The project experienced some delays due to lack of funding. Assistance was therefore sought from the KCOBA overseas chapters initially through Audley Hewett of the Florida Chapter but broadened to include the New York, Atlanta and Toronto chapters.
.
The facility will be used in the Guidance Department for social programmes, audio visual classes, functions, small meetings, socials, lectures and as changing area for the school’s and visiting teams.
Churchill Neita QC chaired the dedication ceremony. Rev. Father Abner Powell opened with prayers. Messages were brought by Crafton Miller, Chairman of the Board; Acting Principal, Everton Burrel; and Audley Hewett on behalf of the KCOBA.
