Howard Aris Returns Unopposed as President of JAAA

KC Old Boy & JAAA President, Howard Aris and his full slate of executive were retuned unopposed at the voting congress of the Association held at the Rex Nettleford Hall of the University of the West Indies, Mona on Tuesday November 18.

Aris, a member of the International Association of Athletics Federation ( IAAF) Youth Committee, will have six (6) other KCOB  to serve with him on  JAA  Executive for the next four years. These include:

Warren Blake-2nd vice president- The Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and founding member of the Jamaica Sports Medicine Association continue his responsibility for medical and anti -doping matters.

Garth Gayle- Honorary Secretary- his solid academic background (MSc Education) together with his IAAF level 11 certificate will continue to serve him well in the administrative and organisational aspects of the Association.

Charlie Fuller-Director of the Bureau of Records.

Alfred Francis- Director of cross country and road race.

Trevor Campbell-formerly manger of the youth teams will be promoted to the management of the senior teams.

Edward hector- the Vice principal of Holmwood Technical will have specific responsibility for education and youth programmes.
 
One of the main thrusts of the Aris administration is to improve the academic profile of junior athletes.

 The administration hopes to move into its permanent Tremaine Close headquarters by February 2009. The  $41.8 million investment will accommodate meeting and conference rooms, library, administrative offices and storeroom. In the long run it is hoped to construct hostel facilities to accommodate athletes and host camps.
