In November, 2006 I was at what, could be called, the lowest point in my life. I had lost my husband of fifty years and two months, Randy Carey, unexpectedly. Those were dark times, times of bewilderment and despair, times when I was in the valley of the shadow of death.
Yet, it was during these difficult times that some wonderful things happened. So many people stretched out hands of kindness, showed concern and were caring and sympathetic. The KCOB were among these angels.
As I sat in the church hall after Randy's funeral service, two young men stooped beside me. I did not know them but I recognized the KC ties. They introduced themselves and ministered to me in a loving, caring and sympathetic manner. Their presence and kindness uplifted my spirit. It touched me deeply that your Organization would support me so strongly when I was so vulnerable.
I regard your reaching out to me as a powerful expression of the very special people you are.
I am aware of your strong presence and contribution to the Atlanta community as well as to KC in Jamaica and I thank you for who you are, for what you represent and for the many ways you express your kindness and generosity. I am so proud to be somewhat connected to you, even though its through a deceased KCOB.
So why did it take me this long to write to you? Because there must be a lot of truth in the saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". and also because my mind is at a better place now.
May the good Lord continue to bless you and your many endeavours.
