Still jubilant over KC's convincing win over Ardenne in the School's Challenge Quiz competition, the teachers convened at the popular Waterfalls Banquet Hall on April 2nd for a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon hosted by the PTA in collaboration with the various chapters of the KC Old Boys' Association.

Over 106 active teachers were treated to a fabulous lunch in the hall beautifully decorated in the fortis colors of purple and white. They were joined by notables such as Crafton Miller, Chairman of the School Board; Patrick McIntosh, School board member; retired vice principal, Helen Douglas; Hon. Robert Montague, MP and Minister of State in Local Government who was the guest speaker.

Opening remarks were given by K. Churchill Neita QC who was also the Master of Ceremonies. The school's chaplain, Father Powell led the group in prayer after which the emcee introduced representatives who brought greetings from various overseas chapters. The speakers were: Audley Hewett, Chairman of the Florida chapter; Clive Golding, Toronto board member and Atlanta Chapter President, Glen Laman.

During lunch a special performance was given by KC old boy, Bobby Smith after which we heard greetings from KCOBA Jamaica President, Ken DaCosta and PTA President Anthony Allen.

Maureen Lewis and Stephanie Tulloch were presented with awards for being voted outstanding teacher of the North Street and Melbourne Campuses respectively. Teachers also took home prizes donated by event sponsors Lasco, Petcom, Savoy and RBTT.

Also in attendance were members of the victorious TVJ School's Challenge quiz team who were presented with gifts. There was even more celebration when, Victor Henry, Chairman of KCOBA Ltd., announced that the Bank of Jamaica was offering a summer internship to the quiz team captain.

The acting principal of KC, Everton Burrell gave the vote of thanks.
