T

he Kingston College Writers’ Club hopes to revive publication of School Magazine. The club was founded three years ago. Club president Xavier McLaren outlined the aims of the revived Writers’ Club as follows:

“ To provide a forum for educating the club’s members and the wider student body in the craft of writing and to improve their skills in the literary arts. This will be done through the monthly publication of a newspaper that will allow students to exercise their skills in the art of writing and provide feedback on the requirements of the writing profession”.

The Executive Council comprises the following:

President-Xavier McLaren
Vice President-Sean Reid
Secretary- Joel Nomdarkham
Financial Controller-Chandu Black
Advertising Agent-Colin Edwards& Nicholas Martin
Faculty Advisor-Twan Beckford

The Council has decided to undertake some five (5) projects during its current  term of office:

  1. Publication of a monthly newsletter
  2. Reviving the publication of the school’s annual magazine
  3. Re-designing and place in a strategic location, a chronology board listing the history of principals and head boys
  4. Promoting an essay competition
  5. Re-energizing Founders’ Day

There are several challenges facing the Club which range from lack of financial sponsorship and equipment such as laptop and printer as well as the urgent need for a room to store  the equipment and newspaper material.

Efforts to secure a room attached to the former Hardie House have meet with little success so far.

The Club can be contacted at  kcwritersclub@gmail.com
