By Glen Laman

The KC Old Boys' Association (KCOBA) of Atlanta has partnered with Woodland Middle School in East Point, Georgia. As a partner, the KC Old Boys' Association looks for opportunites to assist the school in enhancing the overall learning experience of its students.

Last year, the Association provided lunch and other refreshments for the school's Super Science Saturday, held on Novemeber 21, 2008. The event included students from several other area schools and featured hands-on experiments as well as lectures and demonstrations. The National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers, Atlanta Chapter, provided facilitators and demonstrators. Students from Spelman College were also on hand to assist.

Woodland Middle School serves over 1,000 students in grades 6 through 8. It is an urban school where over 85% of the students qualify for the free/reduced lunch program. The school population is mostly Black with a growing Hispanic population.
