Were it not for Dennis Duncan, little brother and child prodigy, Stephen Vasciannie, would have gone to St. George's College and not Kingston College.
Big brother Dennis was Stephen's idol. He played under captain Michael Holding that finished unbeaten and captured the Sunlight Cup cricket in 1973. Dennis represented KC at cricket from 1972-74 with players of the ilk such as Everett Whittingham, Paul Ellis and Clifford Bell (brother of Howard 'juicy ' Bell).
Big brother Dennis represented KC’s winning table tennis team from 1971-74 rubbing shoulders with the likes of Richard Stephenson (ambassador Stewart Stephenson’s brother),Glen Bowlin, Keith ‘Teddy Bums' Martin, Ivan Watson and Winston Cowans. He was also national table tennis representative for 7 years.
So, when little brother passed for KC, he decided not to steal his brother’s thunder with the bat and therefore confined himself to the books. Stephen played a little “catchie shubbie” and ping pong; and not wanting to stay out the limelight opted for headboy, School Challenge quiz title, first class honours and the Rhodes scholarship in order to equal up himself with big brother Dennis.
