Justin Henry

Eleven year old Justin Henry of Stella Maris Preparatory had the second highest average score of the over 300 boys placed at KC based on the Ministry of Education's 2009 GSAT Examinations.

With an average  of 94.12% ,Justin Henry was only just edged into second placed by  Kadeem Campbell of Portmore Missionary Preparatory with a score of 94.48%. Although Henry scored higher in most of the subjects, Campbell got the nod because he scored higher in the communication task paper. The comparative results of both are set out below:

Social studies     Language arts    Maths     Science     Communication task

Kadeem  Campbell          97%                      97%                   97%          91%               11(92%)

Justin Henry                   96%                    100%                 99%          100%               9(75%).

Bank of Jamaica executive Victor Henry is adamant that his son Justin will follow his other sibling and himself to Kingston College.  The former president of KCPTA and former board chairman of KCOBA Ltd, unlike parents and KCOB with their charges averaging over 91%,  has resisted temptation to ask for a transfer to schools such as Ardenne,  Wolmer’s or Campion.

Victor bought a KC tie for his son from the day he was born  and did not see himself ending up on the wall of shame like other old boys would have sent their sons to so called "more prestigious" schools. Instead, he has made a commitment  to re-double his effort to link with other parents to raise funds to improve the attractiveness of the school plant and overall image that would make parents retain their boys at the school.

The overall scores of the 300 cohorts bounded for KC have been very impressive. The average is 85%. 12 boys registered and average score 91% and above; 19 boys averaged 90%and above and 6 with an average of 89% .
