Who would be truly brave must be
Men not afraid to fight and fall
Hearts that unshrinking venture forth
Obedient to the restless call
Of God and country and of truth
In burning faith and abounding work
God gives us such courageous youth
As never shall that challenge shirk.
Not for the swift alone the race
Nor for the strong the battle’s cry
Not every hero bears the palm
Where ringing plaudits fill the sky
God makes us such as in the fight
Though thrown upon the adverse field
Rise up in God’s courageous might
The brave that will not ever yield.
