KCOB Derrick R. Wright has been invited to address students at Yonsei University, Korea. The topic of his address will be “Technology and Ethics.”
Mr. Wright, who has been a technical consultant to corporations such as IBM and Boeing, has an extensive background, not only in technology, but also in ethics. He has lectured in ethics, privacy and security over the course of 15 years at Mercer University.
Established in 1885 by Christian missionaries, Yonsei University is the oldest private university in Korea. It boasts 3,500 members of faculty, and 28,000 students in 18 graduate schools, 17 colleges and 132 subsidiary institutions. It hosts, what it terms, “the most selective pool of students from around the world.”
“I welcome this opportunity to discuss the relationship between technology and ethics,” Mr. Wright said. “This will be an important forum for academic discourse.”
Derrick was invited to Yonsei by distinguished Emory University Professor of Religion and Ethics, Noel L. Erskine, Ph.D. Dr. Erskine is currently the Underwood Professor of Ethics at Yonsei. He was the subject of an article in the newsletter recently--Click here to read it.
Derrick will depart for Korea late October for a weeklong visit. A full program of academic collaboration and cultural interaction is planned.
