T

he year 2010 is off and running. And there sure has been a lot of bad news at the start. The global economy is still a mess. Many old boys are feeling the pinch. Many governments are on the verge of financial disaster and many families are worried about the future. And a devastating earthquake has demolished Haiti. Despite all this, we remain hopeful that better days lie ahead.

Your newsletter is now entering its 7th year. We are unveiling a new look soon as well as several improvements behind the scenes to make publication easier.

In this issue we cover several KC old boys who are making their mark on the world: Kwesi Kafele was recently appointed a Chief in Ghana and Dr Ray Fraser is the head man at the "Little Hospital that is doing Big things."

It is always great to have an article about children of old boys and Janine Scott fits the bill this month with publication of her first book. She is the daughter of Norman Scott, former secretary of the New York Chapter.

Assistant Editor, Basil Waite, provides the details of a session of "Shooting the Breeze" at Professor Wilks' party. See if you know any of those in attendance. And you can find out why Dr Cedric Lazarus joined the KC Cadet Unit back in the day.

This month we publish what we hope will be a regular feature, Where are they now?. Contributing Editor, Everton Bailey, has tracked down Freddie Green, captain of the first KC team to win the Manning Cup in 1949, for our inaugural article in this series. You will love the photos from the 1950's.

Finally, be sure to check our piece on the Haitian earthquake.

We look forward to serving you in the year ahead.

Happy reading,

Glen Laman
