he Georgia Launch of Ambassador Anthony Johnson’s latest book, The Brave May Fall But Never Yield: History of Kingston College 1925 - 2006, took place at a reception held in his honor by KCOBA Atlanta on Friday, June 13th 2008. The Ambassador was in Atlanta for the chapter’s eight annual Reunion & Awards banquet.
The venue for the reception was the beautiful Medlock Bridge clubhouse in Alpharetta, which was arranged by resident Everett McNish, past president of the Atlanta chapter. His wife Jo-Ann ensured that the evening’s refreshments were tastefully presented in a buffet.

he homecoming service for Noel “Jubba” Rhudd was held on Friday evening, May 30, 2008 at the Bethseda Healing Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Over 300 people filled the Church and actively participated in the evangelical service. Among the officiating ministers was the College’s own, Ivan “Prof” Watson, Pastor and District Overseer of the United Church of Jesus Christ. Bro. Wayne Murray, who represented the school at football during the Rhudd era directed the service and Clinton “Fatman” Clarke’s son, Kareem played the organ.

Andrew Wilson |
Andrew Wilson, Kingston College’s head boy in 2002, will attend Cambridge University in the fall of 2008 to pursue a Masters degree in Advanced Chemical Engineering (M. Phil. ACE). His long-term goal is to pursue a PhD in Chemical or Bioengineering.
An outstanding scholar, Andrew is the winner of the Tau Beta Pi Fellowship awarded by the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
The President of Howard University acknowledged him during the Commencement Ceremony on May 10, 2008 for high scholastic achievement. He graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA and was the top student in Chemical Engineering and the College of Engineering, Architecture and Computer Sciences (CEACS) and won the Chemical Engineering Department Award for Excellence. read more »

Norman Rae
Norman Rae was found dead at his home in Stony Hill, St. Andrew, Jamaica on Thursday, June 19, 2008. He was 76.
He was a playwright, producer and arts critic for the Gleaner.

The 25th Annual Reunion and Awards Banquet of KCOBA USA Inc. was held at Antun’s, in Queens, New York on May 3, 2008. The association honored star athlete Lindley Headley, philanthropist Molo Walker, both old boys and distinguished playwright and teacher Trevor Rhone. The KC Class of 1978 Reunion is scheduled for the weekend of September 12-14, 2008 in Kingston, Jamaica. Proposed activities for the event are as follows:

Noel Aloysius Rhudd, born March 3rd, 1959 to Mr. & Mrs. Harold Rhudd Sr., died on May 16th, 2008 leaving Wife Sandra, Partner Tessie and children Shacara, Sasha, Deshawn and Devaun, Granddaughter Gabriel, Sisters Juliette, Jean, Rosie, brothers Harold, Richie, Larry, Marlon, Tony, and Rory; Nieces Roxon, Diane, Cecile, Claudine, Georgia, Shelly, Karen, Jackie, Keisha, Marla, Marsha, Camel, Soroya, Toniann, Kenisha, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and his beloved Kingston College “Fortis” Family. J une is a busy month in Atlanta. It is also Caribbean American Heritage Month and the Georgia Caribbean American Heritage Coalition (GCAHC) plans a month-long series of events to mark the occasion.
Valrie Sanders, president of the coalition, is doing a terrific job and growth and improvement over last year are readily apparent.
The Atlanta chapter was busy too. Our annual reunion and awards banquet was held on the 14th.
We had the honor and pleasure of welcoming Jamaica's ambassador and KC Old Boy, Anthony Johnson and his wife Pamela to Georgia. read more »
The annual church service for the KCOBA (Toronto) Chapter was held Sunday, May 25th, 2008 at the St. David’s Anglican Church in Toronto. The sermon was delivered by The Reverend Canon James R. Garland, a good friend of former KC Headmaster, The Reverend Dr. John McNab.
The event was a fitting tribute to the 35th anniversary of KCOBA (Toronto) and was well supported by members including those from the extended Fortis family highlighted by the presence of Mrs. MacDonald, the widow of the late Mr. Edward MacDonald, former math and geography teacher at KC.
President, Lance Seymour brought greetings on behalf of KCOBA (Toronto) and Dale Keizs read the first lesson. Gerald Lindo received a rousing ovation for his solo rendition. The traditional refreshments at the end of the service, sponsored by KCOBA (Toronto) were well received by all in attendance. More>>

The Atlanta chapter is a young chapter, but we are playing an important part in the growth and success of our Alma Mater, Kingston College. KCOBA Sends Care Package to Fortis in Iraq
KCOBA sent a care package to Lt. Lawrence Reynolds, a KC Old Boy serving in Iraq. The package included banana and yucca chips, spice bun, tamarind balls and a KCOBA Atlanta Banquet Souvenir Journal.
Lawrence's wife Kara has been keeping us apprised of his status via emails. He is doing well but working hard with very little time off.
We have Lt. Reynolds' mailing address in Iraq, so if anyone is interested in sending him a care package or just writing a him a letter please contact the editor, Glen Laman.
JCSU’s Green Selected as USTFCCCA Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year
Freshman Holds Nation’s Best Time in the 400 Meters
Leford Green
TFreshman sensation and KC Old Boy Leford Green has been selected as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year. Green holds the nation’s best time in the 400 meters at 45.56.
Green, a freshman from St. Catherine, Jamaica, won the NCAA indoor title in the 400 meters this past winter. He ran on Jamaica’s fourth-place 4 x 400 relay team at the 2007 World Championships and also clocked 50.51 in the 400 hurdles this spring.
Green attends Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina where he was recruited by his former KC coach, Lennox Graham.
