KC Mourns Legendary Teacher, Edward MacDonald

The tributes continue to pour in for legendary teacher, Mr. Edward B. MacDonald, who died on May 9th 2006 at Nuttall Hospital in Kingston. He taught Mathematics, English and Geography at Kingston College from 1943-1976 and he continued in an administrative capacity at KC until 1990.

His sons Maurice and Douglas both went to KC. Douglas is a past president of the KCOBA Toronto chapter. His daughters Hope , Ruth and Nicola attended St. Hugh 's. Full Article

HOLMWOOD TECHNICAL'S track team manager Chester McCarthy described the school's success in four of seven Championship of Americas events at the Penn Relays as "phenomenal".
"I thought it (performance) was phenomenal, because for any one team or any one school to go to the Penn Relays and take back four Championship of Americas titles, creating a clean sweep in the girls' section, I think it is phenomenal," McCarthy told The Gleaner on the school's arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport yesterday.Full Article

St. Hugh 's Alumnae volunteer at Public Broadcasting pledge drive

The Atlanta chapter of the St. Hugh ’s Past Students Association, better known as St. Hugh’s High School Alumnae Association or SHHSAA, has been in operation for approximately 16 years. It was conceived one balmy summer evening in 1990 at the kitchen table of the esteemed past principal, Dr. Inez Carnegie, as she and past students Flavia Gunter, Audrey Lindsay and Hope Bolden sipped tea and shared cookies and fond memories of bygone days.

The highly successful evening was produced by A Fashion Affair under the distinguished patronage of Ambassador Andrew Young and Jamaica 's honorary consul to Atlanta , Vin Martin with a portion of the evening's proceeds benefiting the Atlanta - Montego Bay Sister Cities Health Mission.

Mrs. Lucille Vernon-Davidson affectionately known as "Mama Luby" was born on July 21,1909 in the district of Little London, Westmoreland. One of three children for Lena Jane Vernon and Henry Vernon . She was an exceptional Lady who lived a long and extemporary life. Her adult life was devoted to service of others her family, church family and strangers.
